I'm Ginger Solberg. I built and maintain this website as a non-profit resource for all of Northeast Louisiana. You won't be bombarded by advertising here. I do not accept any paid advertisers or donations of any kind that I might be non-biased in any recommendations I make. While I won't accept anything for myself I would like to give you a link to The New Orleans Botanical Gardens and ask that you donate what you can to help them recover from Katrina. They accept plants as well as monetary donations. You will find the link under " Garden Tours" . This site services Ouachita, Lincoln, Jackson, Caldwell, Richland, Morehouse, West Carroll,  Tensas, Madison,Union and Franklin Parishes.  If you know of anyone I leave out let me know about them in "Contact Me". If you have any ideas to enhance my service drop me a line.

I'm a Monroe native that moved out in the country near Luna 8 years ago. I've been gardening since we bought our first home in Monroe 32 years ago. I'd say I have become a plant addict and I'm not looking for a cure. When I 1st started out I knew nothing and had few resources. Now with the garden boom I'm developing this site to help other gardeners find whatever they are looking for their garden. You'll find weekly garden articles, Plant of the week, Garden of the week, garden quotes, Resource directories many with their own pages(garden shops, clubs, nurseries, landscapers, tree trimmer, garden designers etc), Recommended garden books I've read myself or by you. Q&A , Feng Shui Garden tips , my personal plant index and I welcome others adding their plant pics & info and pictures of their garden. Please let me know if you have anything to put on our garden event calender at "Contact Me".  Let's all go out and have fun in our gardens.

I am gifting this website as a memorial for my mom :

                                                    Ann VanVeckhoven.

I can close my eyes and smell the roses in mom's first garden in Northeast Louisiana  in Monroe on Marie Place. They where across the back yard with green holly behind and monkey grass in front. Other plants that linger on was the Crabapple I loved to climb up in, A weeping willow on the side yard, big blue mophead hydrangeas that she dried for indoor arrangements all her life and my favorite the candlestick tree. I thought that was so cool.

From there our family moved to Point Drive. While Mom kept lot's of hydrangea she now had the classic southern garden with Azaleas, Dogwoods, Wisteria, Yellow Lady Banks and the usual evergreen suspects. It was in this house she had a "jungle" of indoor plants. While the majority of her garden seemed for the public she had a side garden where she had fun every year changing up annuals and adding perennials. She was a long time member of The Monroe Garden Club and an avid flower arranger.Imagine growing up surrounded by flowers and green plants. Thank you Mom for that.

    " O Friend!

In the garden of thy heart plant naught but the rose of love, and from the nightingale of affection and desire loosen not thy hold."

                                                                                                               Baha'u'llah

It is love of Baha'u'llah, founder of the Baha'i Faith and lover of gardens, that inspired me to make this web site. He teaches us not to gossip or say anything that would "hurt the heart of another." For this reason I will only include comments on what you, or me for that matter, find positive about a company or book, garden , gardener, event or organization. As I've taught my children " If you don't have something nice to say don't say anything."
